In partnership with Leicester Sexual Health, CLINIC xtra is Trade’s sexual health testing service for the LGBT+ and New Arrival (those who have migrated to the UK and been living here for less than 5 years) communities living in Leicester/shire. This service is for those who are not experiencing any symptoms, but wish to access regular sexual health screening, information and advice.
If you are experiencing symptoms, please get in touch with Leicester Sexual Health on 0300 124 0102
CLINIC xtra appointment slots are between 12:00 until 2:00pm. There will be a very limited number of appointments, so booking an appointment is advised to be guaranteed to be seen.
Time availability may change due to nurse availability.
If we need to reschedule your appointment, we will contact you in advance.
If you are currently accessing PrEP, you can obtain your quarterly screening with CLINIC xtra.
If you want to start PrEP please contact Leicester Sexual Health for a PrEP consultation.
When’s the appropriate time to test?
The aim of this service is to allow lesbian, gay, bisexual, trans and new arrivals communities to access all the screening expected from a local NHS sexual health clinic in an informal setting in Leicester City Centre.
The screening involves the choice of two types of tests, depending on your history, you may be advised to complete both;
Urine sample and/or swab tests from the throat/rectum/cervix (whichever is applicable) to test for chlamydia and gonorrhoea.
Blood testing for syphilis, HIV and Hepatitis B and Hepatitis C (where advised).
(You can find more information about above listed sexually transmitted infections and sexual health here)
The clinic is in a private room on site to ensure confidentiality. All information is kept strictly confidential and clients will be notified about the results within 10 - 14 days through text (other options also available). You will only be contacted by phone if you have any positive results.
The weekly clinics are targeted to all members of LGBT+ & new arrival communities and we particularly welcome lesbian and trans communities who may appreciate professional, informal and supportive atmosphere at Trade.
We called it CLINIC xtra as we would like to welcome our clients to service beyond medical. While waiting in the drop in area, clients can catch up on the latest news, find out about Trade services, or talk to Trade worker available on site. Safer sex packs are also available and free to take away with a variety of resources available.
Date: Every Friday
Time: 12:00 – 2:00pm (last screening at 1:40pm)
Place: Trade Sexual Health, 2nd Floor, 27 Bowling Green Street, Leicester, LE1 6AS
The Clinic will be cancelled if it falls on a national holiday.
In the unfortunate event of the clinic being cancelled, we will share your booking information with Leicester Sexual Health to honour your booking for that day or the commencing week.
